Anxiety can affect everyone from time to time. For months you might have felt strong and happy, and suddenly, anxiety, worry, and fear start to overwhelm you. Sound familiar? When this happens, I turn to positive affirmations for anxiety to calm myself down and manage the situation.

A multitude of situations could cause anxiety and the levels of anxiety can vary greatly from person to person. In some cases, anxiety can be debilitating and prevent you from living a full life.

When you repeat your affirmations, ideally out loud and as often as you can, you are sending a strong signal to your brain that this is the reality you affirm. As per the dictionary, affirm means to, state or declare a fact to be true. Eve Hogan explains this very well in her article Affirmations: Why they Work & And How to Use Them.

How will this work with anxiety?

When you choose positive thoughts, aka your affirmations, you are telling your brain to focus on these statements more than on the anxiety it is busy with. The more you believe in your affirmations, the more they will help and calm you down. Therefore, it is a good practice to pick only affirmations that ring true with you.
